"Dear Pulse,
I am Amarachi and I have been married for 12 years with five children but I am not enjoying my marriage one bit because my once loving husband has turned me into his punching bag.
When we got married, Jude
was the best man any woman would love to have for a husband. In fact,
he was so gentle that he could not hurt a fly but if anyone told me Jude
will turn out to be the beast he has turned out to be.
I
can't really say when it started but I think after our third child was
born that we had a very serious quarrel that led Jude to slapping me.
That day, he had come home drunk, something that was very rare for him.
Not that he did not drink but he had never been that drunk and when I
told him I was not happy with the way he was, he got mad and slapped me.
I
was shocked because this was a man who never raised his hands on me
even when we were dating. In the morning, he apologized profusely and
attributed his action to the drinks. He begged and begged and I had to
forgive him. Looking back now, I think I should have stood up to him but
since it was the first time, I forgave him, not knowing that I was
opening a door for more abuse to come.
And
since then, it has been the same, even getting worse at times when he
would beat me so bad I had to be hospitalized. I have scars and bruises
all over my body and after every beating, he would beg and cry, blaming
everything but himself for snapping.
I am
in a serious dilemma at the moment. I am fed up of this marriage and I
am contemplating filing for a divorce but my friends say I should think
of my young children, saying they would suffer without their father. I
also dread being a divorcee and living on my own.
Amarachi."
Dear readers, on Morning Teaser today, we want you to advice Amarachi on what to do in this very dicey situation.
